In Nina Svensson’s art people and places are in dialogue. Svensson is interested in social processes that render visible the various forms of ownership and of the sharing and valorisation of capital. Making use of cross-disciplinary scientific methods, such as field studies, her site-specific works often extend beyond traditional art spaces and involve collaboration with communities. The core of Svensson’s practice is information sharing, symbolised by the gift exchange as a mark of friendship.
Nina Svensson lives in Stockholm. In addition to her artistic career, she also teaches at the University of Arts, Crafts and Design (Konstfack). Svensson likes to work with local wood sculptors and forest professionals, and she is interested in discussions about the value of the environment and of culture, and of the future of commercial forests.
